Dev log #2: 22/05/2025 (Ethan's Game Jam 2 feature)
Since Ethan could not attend Game Jam 2, this additional game feature is his submission for the game jam 2 assignment.
This build introduces the bar mechanic. Alcohol is now a limited resource, and the drunk driver player must visit bars to gain alcohol supply.
The city will have several bars, starting with a random-half of them being closed, and the others, open. Open bars are indicated with a green colour. To visit a bar, just drive past it on the side of the road closest to it. Visiting a bar will increase alcohol supply by 1, and close the bar you just visited, and then open a different random bar that was closed. Therefore, the player will have to navigate the city to keep their alcohol supply up.
Other changes:
- Alcohol can only be drunk if you have supply for it. Taking a drink reduces the supply count by 1.
- the UI now shows alcohol supply
- UI game object and scripts improved & optimized for UI text
- Fine score is now directly tied to number of drinks taken (100 dollars per drink), instead of time survived multiplied by alcohol count multiplier - temporarily removed the ability to take damage when colliding do to some severe bugs. But crashing into a civilian car still ends the game (albeit with a severe bug that is the endscreen doesn't show up), and colliding with the cop car will also end the game (this game ending does properly show the endscreen UI)
